Welcome to PlatMap! By using our site, you agree to these terms. We've tried to keep them short, fair, and free of the legal jargon that makes your eyes glaze over. If something doesn't make sense, just ask us.
What PlatMap Is
PlatMap is a free tool for finding and viewing public property records, subdivision plat maps, and records of survey. We aggregate publicly available data from county recorder offices and make it searchable. Think of us as a helpful librarian, not a legal authority.
What PlatMap Isn't
Not legal advice. We're not lawyers, and nothing on this site should be taken as legal counsel. If you're in a property dispute, hire an actual attorney.
Not a survey. Looking at a plat map doesn't replace hiring a licensed surveyor. If you need to know exactly where your property line is, get it professionally surveyed. That fence your neighbor put up? Still not your call to move it based on our maps.
Not guaranteed accurate. We do our best to provide accurate, up-to-date information, but we're pulling from county records that can have errors, delays, or gaps. Always verify with official sources for anything important.
Your Account
Creating an account is free and gets you watermark-free downloads. In exchange, we ask that you:
- •Use a real email address (we need to verify you're human)
- •Keep your login credentials secure
- •Don't create multiple accounts to abuse the service
- •Don't use bots to scrape the entire database (just ask us if you need bulk data)
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or abuse the service. We've never had to do this, and we'd like to keep it that way.
The Data
The plat maps, records of survey, and property data on PlatMap come from public county records. This information is in the public domain—we didn't create it, and we don't own it. You're free to use downloaded documents for personal or professional purposes.
That said, please don't:
- •Resell bulk data you scraped from us
- •Pretend you're the official source of this information
- •Use our site for anything illegal (we really hope this goes without saying)
Limitation of Liability
PlatMap is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We're not liable for any damages arising from your use of the site, reliance on information found here, or inability to access the service. In plain English: if you make a decision based on our data and it goes sideways, that's on you. We're a free tool, not an insurance policy. Please verify important information with official county sources.
Advertising
We show ads to keep PlatMap free. These are served by third parties (like Google AdSense) and help cover our hosting costs. We try to keep them from being annoying. If you see an ad that seems sketchy or inappropriate, let us know.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms occasionally. If we make significant changes, we'll make a reasonable effort to let you know. Continued use of PlatMap after changes means you accept the new terms. We promise not to sneak in anything outrageous.
